Biography

Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma joined School of Physics and Materials Science, Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology, Patiala as an Assistant Professor in July 2022. He finished his Ph.D. from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 2011 and thereafter worked as Research Associate in the DST National Facility “Quantum Design MPMS XL7 SQUID Magnetometer” at IIT Delhi. After this, he worked as an Assistant Professor at Amity University, Noida for 7 years. He worked with the Materials Physics Research Team at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory (PAL)/POSTECH, Republic of Korea as a postdoctoral fellow for 3 years.

Research Interests

Dr. Sharma’s general area of expertise is experimental condensed matter physics. His work is focused on the fundamental understanding of nature as well as technological applications, and motivated by the experimental discovery of unconventional physical phenomena. In this regard, he uses advanced experimental tools and computational methods to study quantum phases in diverse contexts: Spintronics, Multiferroics, Topological Insulators, and Semiconductor Devices.
